Wolf Hall sequel in the pipeline!

You (might have) heard it here first: Hilary Mantel is at work on a sequel to Wolf Hall. The title, at least as of this writing, is The Mirror and the Light. This news gleaned from an interview with Kathryn Hughes in the December/January issue of Literary Review.

I didn’t mention it in my own review, but Wolf Hall‘s narrative ends more or less in medias res, so while I’m delighted  by the news of a follow-up in progress, I’m not altogether surprised.

Here’s video of the author discussing her Man Booker Prize winning novel:

Speaking of sequels, did you ever read The Angel’s Game? I don’t recall a post, so I’m guessing you haven’t gotten around to it (what with shoveling long driveways and such). Not still worried about disappointment, I hope!

Best to you and yours in 2010!

      Hey, Meredith –
      Great to hear from you
No. I haven’t read The Angel’s Game yet. You liked it, right? One of my library friends wasn’t crazy about it; she said it didn’t begin to measure up to The Shadow of the Wind. However – your endorsement would be recommendation enough for me!

I wish you in return a Happy New Year.
