The media specialists of the Howard County Public Schools have posted their 2012 summer reading suggestions. For a number of years now, I’ve had the privilege of working with the staff on this book list.

Lists from past years are also available,  as well as suggestions for readers from kindergarten age through high school. Click here to see those.

I can see the hand od Roberta in the adult list, and there is some interesting and worthwhile reading here, but I am disappointed in the nonfiction. There is virtually NOTHING touching on science. For shame!

      Angie,

Guilty as charged. The list is heavily skewed toward the historical, the heartwarming – or both!

Could you and I come up with another list, do you think – one with some speculative fiction and some nonfiction on scientific subjects, written with the ‘lay’ reader in mind? Suggestions would be most welcome. The titles don’t necessarily need to be as recent as 2012, or even 2011.
